Giving Back to our First Responders
At DRF Water Heating Solutions we believe that our communities are the foundation for future generations. It’s our goal to serve not only our customers but the community as a whole.
This is never so important as right now. Our blessings of talent, resources, and opportunity allow us to contribute in a variety of ways. By living our H.E.R.O. Values (Honorable, Empathetic, Responsible, and Outstanding) our team members have given of their time to help others.
Recently Joyce Gillette-Cartina one of our valued Water Service Advisors, gave of her time and talent to make custom facemasks and donated them to Chicago Fire Department. Joyce is a talented seamstress and a volunteer for Rest in His Arms Angel Gowns who together have made and donated over 3000 facemasks.
Upon learning of a need at Engine Company 107 located at 1101 S. California, Chicago, IL, Joyce quickly assembled a variety of masks and rushed to deliver them. Joyce donated 60 facemasks for Lieutenant McKeon and his team of 30 firefighters and EMTs based at the station.
Joyce was even invited to share a meal at the firehouse. “I’m so happy to have been able to help the firefighters. I love to sew and giving back, even a little, makes me feel that I am helping.”. Joyce continues – “we all need to do our part right now, be it staying at home, contributing a talent or a resource, or just offering a word of encouragement to those on the front lines. The firefighters were very thankful – but to me, they deserve the thanks!”
We’re proud of Joyce and our entire DRF team who are helping people get hot water and stay safe during this difficult time. Thank you, Joyce,
If you’d like to donate to Rest in His Arms Angel Gowns visit their Facebook page. The volunteers of “Angel Gowns” repurpose old wedding gowns so that they can be used as burial garments for babies that pass away prematurely. All gowns are donated to hospitals and other appropriate organizations.
